The 21 Icons is going full steam ahead with its incredible work of highlighting contemporary South African heroes.
The latest icons documented in Adrian Steirn’s remarkable series are as inspiring as those who came before them.
Since we last reported on the progress of season III of the 21 Icons endeavour, seven more young icons have been featured. Gary van Wyk, the young photographer who has taken the reins, is taking the project, which started with a portrait of Nelson Mandela, to exciting heights.
Among the new additions are HIV activist Phindile Sithole-Spong, musician Kyle Shepherd, documentary filmmaker Jolynn Minnaar, photographer Mikhael Subotzky, impact entrepreneur Ezlyn Barends, award-winning filmmaker Oliver Hermanus athlete Caster Semenya.
